The Head Coach position manages all aspects of the program as overseen by the Manager of Player and Coach Development. The Head Coach is responsible for the development and maintenance of an effective and competitive Advanced Development Program. The recruitment and development of quality athletes in this program will be integral to this position. The Head Coach is responsible for all aspects that relate to the Advanced Development Program that includes the ongoing development of the athletes. The Head Coach will also be expected to demonstrate the ability to teach and promote high quality training programs in a wide range of categories including physical, technical, intellectual, and social growth of the athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a framework for athletes to perform at their full potential by teaching and developing skill levels and game strategies. Practice sessions should prepare the athletes for the competitive soccer journey while utilizing proper judgment in the instruction and expectations. All sessions must operate with the highest possible safety standards in place

  • Teach and set expectations of appropriate team conduct during practice

  • Develop players who are competitive within the conference, region and nationally by maximizing the athletes’ talents while also teaching and promoting teamwork.

  • Provide guidance to athletes through teaching life skills and social responsibility in order to improve their physical, intellectual and social maturity.

  • Create an environment through instruction and modeling for athletes to observe and learn integrity, camaraderie, and respect

  • Serve as a resource to athletes navigating through their journey and act as a mentor

  • Act as a professional and positive representative of LVLUP Player Development.

  • Provide support directly to athletes and create a network of support within the team through the usage of other program resources and staff.

  • Plan, organize and manage all in-season and out-of-season practices and competitions

  • Oversee conduct and discipline of the team

  • Select, supervise, teach, and evaluate assistant coaches

  • Organize and conduct sports camps or clinics

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills

  • Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills, whether dealing with individuals or groups and the ability to work well with different constituents

  • Ability to effectively analyze and teach the fundamental skills and strategies of the sport

  • Ability to successfully motivate all members associated with the team

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Positive attitude towards the organization and the staff is essential

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Education

  • Canadian Soccer A (or) B License (or) C License

  • Sports Management degree (preferred)

  • Expertise in the sport, having a minimum of 5 years of progressive coaching experience in a competitive training environment

  • Experience playing semi-pro or pro level
